Record turnout for Wizard 5 race

The Wizard 5 running race, organised by Wilmslow Running Club, was a great success last week.

On Thursday, 9th July, 253 intrepid runners set off from the top of Alderley Edge for a 5 mile run over tracks, paths and stiles between the Edge and Hare Hill. This was a record turnout helped, no doubt, by the nice sunny weather that evening.

The race was won by Ryan Holroyd, of City of Stoke AC, with Diane McVey of Wilmslow Running Club, the first lady to finish. The team prizes were collected by Vale Royal AC for the men, and Wilmslow for the ladies.

Andy Watts said "The real winners though were the people who entered the race as a challenge, and completed the event in good style, helping to raise over £1,250 for the Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society. Many thanks to their volunteers for their very enthusiastic support and encouragement, and also to the National Trust for hosting the event."
