A band from Bristol are playing an exclusive gig in Alderley Edge tomorrow night (Wednesday 24th June) as part of their Race to Glasto tour which includes 7 gigs in 7 days as they make their way from Loch Lomond to Glastonbury.

Wildflowers embarked on a different style tour last weekend, starting in Loch Lomond on Sunday, 21st June. They have just one week to get all the way down to the Glastonbury Festival, taking only their gear and a £100 kitty they will be playing venues that their fans choose.

Fans have been telling them via Twitter where they want the band to play and the winners who come up with the most inventive places have been announced the day before each date. The winner for tomorrow is The Yard where the Wildflowers will be performing from 7.30pm.

Lead singer Siddy Bennett said "We won a bet about two years ago with the landlord of the Whistlefield Inn in Loch Lomond to play a show there, but this has been our first opportunity to actually call it in! We've spent much of the last year in Detroit writing and recording our album, so now we thought it'd be nice to have some fun, and reach out to see our fans again. We couldn't think of a better way to do that than letting them choose where we play."

Fans at the venues will be asked to put their hands in their pockets to cover the petrol onto the next venue, if they fail to raise enough money then the tour will grind to an abrupt halt.

Bennett said "Bands in the 60s didn't worry about money, riders and royalties. They just jumped on the tour bus and went where the music took them.

"We loved that ethic, but wanted to bring it back for the social media generation."

Sadie Pickering from The Yard said "We're so excited that the Wildflowers have said yes to play a gig tomorrow night. It was a last minute thing because of the way they're doing this tour - they decide on the venue a few days before the actual gig and the tickets have sold so fast.

"Kendal one of the musicians is local and we met him when he popped into The Yard a while back. We've always wanted to book them because we love their boho / fleetwood Mac / flower children vibe."

Tickets cost £6, for any last minute bookings call 01625 586962, all leftover funds from the tour will be donated to Bristol based charity Given To Live, which raises money to make live music accessible for the vulnerable and excluded.

The Yard will be serving special cocktails with edible flowers from Peter Woollam's garden during the gig.
