Theatre company to host 'Sing Wicked in a Day' workshop

A local theatre company has come up with a new way to have fun and raise funds, to help cover the cost of their next production, at the same time.

Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company are running a 'Sing Wicked in a Day' workshop next month. Wicked is the hugely successful West End musical based on the early lives of the witches from the Wizard of Oz, which is currently playing at the Lowry Theatre in Salford.

During the one day workshop attendees will learn the songs (and there is no need to be able to read music) with two experienced professional Musical Directors and a Stage Director. Then in the eveing they will perform a concert - hopefully wowing friends and family with all they have learnt.

The workshop is open to anyone over the age of 8 - with no upper limit so the whole family are welcome to come and have a day of fun together.

Company Chairman Angela McPake said "We are really hoping this will appeal to anyone, whether they have only ever sung in the shower or they sing regularly in a local choir. Wicked is a great musical and this is intentionally designed to be relaxed, fun day with no auditions and people of all abilities and experience welcome to come along."

'Sing Wicked in a day' is being held on Sunday, 19th July, from 11am to 8.30pm at Mottram St Andrew Village Hall.

It costs £15 for an adult, £10 for anyone under 18 and tickets for the evening performance can be booked for £5. There is only limited space available and it is first come, first served. All the music is provided.

Tickets can be booked online at www.awmtc.co.uk or by ringing John or Helen on 07506 988433.
