Parish Council wants to give youth a voice

Alderley Edge Parish Council is looking to form a Youth Council so the younger generation can have an influence on developments in the village.

Parish councillors will be visiting local schools as well as Guides and Scouts groups in order to put together a Youth Council made up of members from these places.

The Youth Council will then meet on a fairly regular basis to discuss what they feel is important.

Speaking at a public meeting on Wednesday 3rd June, Cllr Rachael Grantham said "One of the main reasons I got involved in this in the first place is I really believe it is important to hear a younger voice and I'd love a few younger faces, school age children, at meetings like this."

She added "Hopefully we will put together this team of people, hear what they want, encourage them to come along to meetings like this so they can add their opinions and we can listen to what they have to say and what they would like to see and hopefully then we can make that happen."
