Police are trying to educate taxi drivers that continue to park their cabs inconsiderately in the evenings, mainly on London Road, West Street and other side roads.

Inspector Alan Fairclough said "This topic has been on the agenda for a while now and police are currently running an pperation in the village to try and solve the problems the taxi drivers are causing."

The operation is being run on Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm until 3am.

Inspector Fairclough added "The last two weeks have gone well but more patrols will be carried out over the next few weeks."

Terry, fair point both are as bad. What I would say is late one night a few months back as we were in our car going through the village, an ambulance with it's sirens on had to negotiate a myriad of taxis parked across all the pavements at the top end of the village waiting for people to come out of bars/restaurants. All were parked dangerously blocking the road in places, and if it stops emergency services then something is drastically wrong.
