Residents invited to 2015 Annual Parish Meeting

methodistchurch

Members of the public are invited to attend the Annual Parish Meeting which will be held at Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Monday, 11th May.

The Annual Parish Meeting is not a council meeting but a meeting of the residents of the village, providing an opportunity for residents to put questions and express their views about issues affecting Alderley Edge which are important to them.

The meeting will commence at 7.30pm with a report from the Chairman of the Parish Council. Questions relating to Parish Council matters will then be considered and Alderley Edge groups will be invited to report on their activities during the year.

Only registered local electors can speak, unless the meeting agrees otherwise, and vote on any item.

Will the new Parish Council have had time to meet and elect a new Chairperson by the 11th?

Hopefully "the meeting" will vote to allow non-doms to have their say; after all a precedent has been set on that front by Westminster.

Wow. I can't wait. I think it may well be a packed house! How exciting. It's reasonable, I think to expect that the new Council may not have had time to have clear answers to every question that will be put to them, but I am optimistic that the way the questions are received will be a huge improvement on previous Annual Parish Meetings that I have attended.

Hi Pete and Claire,

Unless I'm very much mistaken this will be the outgoing PC and chairmans report.

As chairman of the allotment society I haven't been asked to give a report on our activities. I doubt anyone else has either.

But I do have a report waiting to be delivered.

But should be a good meeting !

Why is it always Monday? I would have stood for the Council years ago but the meetings are always on Monday and I can't do Monday. Does anyone else have this problem?

Peter I'm sure the new PC would be open to change it and be more flexible, I will mention it for you on Monday.

My memory is that the annual parish meeting occurs before the new Councillors take their seats. The Parish Clerk will be able to advise on this.

We will therefore have the delight of the departing PC producing a report in the full knowledge that they have been rejected totally by the electorate. It should be an interesting report - and on my birthday as well :-))
