Wilmslow churches set up General Election hustings

ballotbox

Voters from in and around Wilmslow will have the opportunity to see the General Election candidates for the Tatton constituency in action on Saturday April 25th.

The hustings meeting is being organised by Churches Together in Wilmslow and will take place at Wilmslow United Reformed Church on Chapel Lane from 9.30am to 11am.

This will be a public event where candidates can present their policies on various issues and answer questions from the floor. It will be chaired by retired United Reformed Church minister Tony Burnham, formerly a national President of Churches Together in England, who lives outside the constituency in Didsbury.

Kirsty Thorpe, chair of Churches Together in Wilmslow, said: 'It is very important that people understand the issues in this General Election campaign and engage with the politicians who want their votes. Running this meeting is one way the churches can encourage people to ask important questions about what sort of community – locally and globally - we all want to live in and use their vote well."

We will publish more detail about the General Election hustings after the close of nominations which takes place on Thursday, April 9th.

Incase anyone was unsure the Alderley edge polling station is the scout hut on Talbot Road.

This change is due to Festival hall being re developed.

Open from 7am to 10pm for the three elections:

UK Parliament

Cheshire East ward councillor

Parish council 9 seats, you have 9 votes in this election.

There are 3 polling stations in Alderley Edge parish;
if you're west of the railway your polling station is Alderley Primary
the bit east of the railway is split in two - the northernmost part vote at Alderley Edge scout hall (previously Festival Hall), the southernmost vote at the Methodist Church.
