PCSO Sarah Stanley has stepped in to help out with the Alderley Edge Speedwatch group.

She will be joining the team of two, to help monitor and record the vehicle details for those who are driving above the 30mph limit on the busiest roads in the village. PCSO Stanley will then be checking the details against the Police National Computer and sending warning letters to those breaking the law.

PCSO Stanley said "The Alderley Edge Speedwatch group have been looking to recruit a third member for their team for the last six months but so far no one has come forward. Therefore I have offered to join the team so the sessions can continue. I feel the community speedwatch is very important as it raises awareness and does have an impact on people's behaviour."

Volunteers, who are trained in the use of a speed gun, spend an hour whenever they can and record the speed of passing vehicles on four main roads in the village: Brook Lane, Ryleys Lane, Congleton Road and Macclesfield Road. They record vehicles that are traveling in excess of 36mph in a 30 mile speed limit, motorists are then sent a warning letter from the police.

Anyone interested in joining the group can contact PCSO Sarah Stanley on 0845 458 6374.
