A 10-year-old runner from Alderley Edge has collected a haul of trophies and medals after completing a very successful winter season.

James Doorbar attended the Macclesfield Harriers awards night on Friday, 20th March, where he collected the trophy and shield for best under 11 boy of the season at cross country and a medal for participating in all the Manchester league, North Staffordshire league and Cheshire championship races.

He was also awarded the Arthur Evans Memorial Plate for the best overall club performance at the Cheshire County Cross Country Championships where he came 2nd in January. James and his teammates won a collective bronze for their efforts in the highly competitive Manchester cross country league.

James also competed in the Macclesfield inter school meetings which have taken place over the last month, winning all three races. He was presented with a glass trophy for his individual achievement and also collected a bronze medal as his school Mottram St Andrew Primary Academy won 3rd place overall.

James plans to continue running throughout the summer months in his weekly park run. He has also entered the Wincle Trout run in June and is looking into what the Staffordshire Moorlands summer series has in store.

When asked how he felt after Friday night's award ceremony in Bollington, James said "I am very proud of my achievements."
