Plans for "super eco home" refused

Plans for a "detached super eco home" in the Green Belt off Brook Lane have been refused.

The substantial six-bedroom single storey house, described as a contemporary and environmentally friendly house, was proposed for a 9,230 sq m site which is largely unmanaged open space adjacent to Alderley Edge Golf Club.

The scheme included banks of earth providing screening to the golf course and Brook Lane and the majority of the entrance elevation consisted of mirrored glass to reflect the surrounding mature landscape and help to blur the lines between natural landscape and constructed dwelling.

Additionally, around half of the remaining elevations were built into the landscape, with only roof lights visible from above, and landscaping was intended to envelope the majority of the building.

The Northern Planning Committee refused the application on the grounds that it was an inappropriate form of development within the Green Belt, as defined by the Development Plan, which reduces openness, and conflicts with the purposes of including land in the Green Belt.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East website by searching for planning reference 13/4995M.

A previous application for 16 dwellings on this site was submitted and refused in 1979.

We want to protect the greenspaces- not have big houses put on it!!! Alderley Edge is known for its beautiful scenery- lets keep it like that. Welldone to the Northern planning committee for refusing it. Plenty of brownfield sites....
