Group plans to contest all seats in local elections

A group of residents, who have come together to encourage Independent candidates to stand in the upcoming local elections, intends to put forward a candidate to represent the Alderley Edge Ward on Cheshire East Council and contest all nine seats on Alderley Edge Parish Council.

The newly formed AlderleyEdgeFIRST are launching their campaign next week, ahead of the Ward and Parish Council elections on Thursday 7th May.

Mike Dudley-Jones said "It is our desire to change the way our Parish Council operates and to move away from a political party driven body to one made up of like minded folk who believe that the hopes and wishes of the people of our Village should come before politics of any kind. It is time for a change."

The AlderleyEdgeFIRST Campaign Launch Meeting will take place at the Union Club on Monday, 9th March, starting at 7.30pm.

Residents are invited to meet the team, who will introduce themselves and tell attendees what they propose to stand for, as well as what they believe needs to be done.

Mike added "We are seeking to put forward one of our number to stand as Ward Councillor to sit on Cheshire East Council and to stand as a Parish Councillor also. As there are a total of 9 Parish Council seats this will leave 8 further Parish Council seats.

"AlderleyEdgeFIRST propose to take all of those seats!

"You may be wondering whether you might like to stand alongside us as a Parish Councillor - so we have kept one place free if you would like to put yourself forward."

The Tatton Conservative Association will be releasing the names of their nine Conservative candidates for Alderley Edge Parish Council after April 10th. We will of course be covering all candidates for all the May elections nearer the time.

Looking forward to attending the first campaign meeting on Monday.

I understand that the team are seeking people to assist with the campaign in a number of associated tasks. So anyone wishing to help in some way should try to make this meeting on Monday.

Having attended the very positive meeting this evening, I was encouraged to find that here is a team of talented people with a passionate desire to bring about much needed change in Alderley Edge.

There is clearly a coordinated, committed and credible team behind Alderley Edge First and that team will surely grow as a result of tonights meeting.
