Work underway at Festival Hall

Work commenced this week at the Festival Hall ready for a new medical centre to be built at the front of the building off Talbot Road.

At the same time the Parish Council is pressing on with internal works to refurbish the hall, which they hope will be finished ready for the hall to reopen at the end of April.

The scheme also includes an extension on the side of the building which will provide a new entrance for the hall.

Builders have started breaking up the doors, removing a balcony etc and building a wall to separate the medical centre from the community hall. Once the wall is complete and water tight they will demolish the front of the building.

Cllr Melanie Connor was at the hall yesterday, she said "The internal wall should be finished this week, effectively cutting off the hall from the medical centre. The front of the building will then be demolished on the 9th March the building starts. Inside all the enabling works are nearly done and work on the side entrance starts soon."
