A new reason to get a parking ticket

The item below has recently been posted on the Cheshire East website. Although the grammar may be poor the intention is pretty clear. I am told that these powers will be used in problem areas, the example I was given was outside schools where parents dropping off children can block the driveways to houses.

This change does not appear to have been well publicised.

Parking on a Dropped Footway

Contravention 27

This contravention will apply as from Monday 7th September 2009.

Parking in front of a dropped kerbway on a driveway access - if a dropped kerbway is being blocked by parked vehicles, the householder may contact the Council and ask them to issue these vehicles with penalty charge notices. Parking Services will make every effort to act on the request however we are not a response unit and may have more success if we understand the full nature of the problem; this will involve a return telephone call to discuss the situation.

Vehicles parking on a dropped footway at a road crossing will be enforced automatically to any vehicle parked in contravention.
