raid

Police blocked off several roads in the village centre this morning for health and safety reasons, whilst they carried out a raid at an address on South Street.

At approximately 9.30am plain clothed policeman attended the property to execute a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A 49 year old local man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs. He is now on police bail whilst the matter is investigated.

DS Mills stated "Whilst the initial stages of the search were carried out a small section of the road was closed, this was done purely as a precaution to ensure there was no risk to passing members of the public. Members of the public may have seen officers in personal protective equipment entering the address, again this was purely a precaution and within a short space of time deemed unnecessary."
