The 15th annual Christmas Tree Collection will take place on Saturday 10th January and Sunday 11th January, once again raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice.
In January 2014 the collection raised over £71,150 for the Hospice, enough to keep the Hospice operating for just over 11 days and breaking the previous record of £68,500.
Over 5,360 individual collections were made using 33 vans. With support from over 120 helpers each day over 61 tonnes of Christmas Trees were responsibly recycled.
This year the collection team are aiming to raise over £80,000 for the Hospice by recycling over 70 tonnes of Christmas trees. So far 2066 trees have been registered.
Since 2001 supporters of the Christmas Tree Collection have donated over £481,850 to the Hospice.
Richard Raymond, one of the organisers, said "It is a simple idea which works on the principle of save all that mess in your car by having your Christmas tree collected in return for a small donation. You book in with us and we will collect and recycle your old tree and collect your donation to the Hospice - no mess and no worries!"
The suggested minimum donation for having your Christmas Tree collected is £4 per tree, which will run the Hospice for about 1 minute, however the volunteers request that you are as generous as you can be for this worthwhile cause.
As the costs are covered by generous sponsors, every pound you donate will go to the Hospice.
