Due to popular demand a festive charity event which has taken place in the village for over 30 years will run for a second night, for the time.

Tickets for Alderley Edge's 34th annual Charity Carol Nite on Sunday 21st December have already sold out so an additional evening of carols will take place on Monday, 22nd December.

The community event will take place at The Yard and feature live music from Fay Wertheimer and family, along with members of Carlton Ensemble.

Now in its 34th year, the event has raised around £28,500 for local causes, which are nominated by guests on the night. Last year they raised £1120 so with two events taking place next month they will exceed £30,000 this year.

Fay Wertheimer said "Starting in 1981, Alderley Charity Carols morphed into a local tradition and, spanning three generations, it's rooted in family. Hosted again by the Pickerings at The Yard, the event has a feel of home-coming following four venue changes when Number 15 Wine Bar closed in 2008. My family and friends in Carlton Ensemble appreciate Alderley's wonderful and continued support - resulting in great fun and more importantly thousands of pounds raised. Thank you."

The Christmas Carol Nite will start from 7pm. Tickets are £20 each from The Yard, including food and a £10 donation to charity - though extra donations are always welcome. Carols will begin at 9pm.
