Alderley Edge Methodist Church will be hosting their annual Christmas Tree Festival in a couple of weeks which is always a true spectacle of festivity and community spirit.

Throughout the first weekend of December the church will be filled with decorated Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes, which have been contributed by local organisations, schools and businesses.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be held from Friday 5th December to Sunday 7th December and all the proceeds will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

Jean Walker said "The first Christmas Tree Festival was launched by Sir Bobby Charlton in 2009 when the church was embarking on a £450,000 project to restore the church spire and east gable. The building works were completed in 2012, but fundraising efforts continued until the debt was finally paid off during the course of this year. Alderley Edge Methodist Church is extremely grateful to the local and wider community for the support given during this time.

"This year's Christmas Tree Festival is both a celebration of the work done and a "Thank You" to our friends and neighbours in the community."

The festival will start on the Friday lunchtime and the day will end with a Christingle Service from 6pm to 7pm, in aid of The Children's Society.

On Saturday afternoon Chelford Hand Bell Ringers will perform at 2pm and on Sunday afternoon there will be a concert featuring Vox Musica, singers from the Hallé Orchestra.

Stalls and refreshments will be available throughout the festival. There will be a recommended donation of £2 for admission, with no charge for under 12s and admission to the concert is £5 with tickets available from the church office.

For more information on providing a tree or purchasing tickets, ring the church office on 01625 586713, email [email protected] or visit the Alderley Edge Methodist Church website.
