We have just received confirmation that the award winning independent wine merchants Corks Out is taking over the lease at 73 London Road, currently Nicolas. This years winner of the Visit Cheshire Retail Business of the Year Award will be opening their fifth branch in early August.

Corks Out was established in Stockton Heath by Ruth Yates in 2003, who explained that the business "has been successful due to it's point of difference from other wine retailers. Other retailers tend to sell the same brands whilst Corks Out specialises in providing an eclectic range of over 2500 products that have true provenance and represent value for money".

Ruth has been in the wine trade for the past 20 years and is joined by a team of passionate, enthusiastic members that have experience with the products they sell, enabling them to offer a high level of customer service and more information about what's actually in their wine glass. At Corks Out they "try to de-mystify wine for the customer and provide everything for the newcomer to wine, right through to the connoissieur." They also run tutored tastings, a calender of events to encourage customers to understand and enjoy wine, a wine club with member discounts and a menu matching service which was featured on Channel 4’s “Come Dine with Me”.

Ruth told us that "Corks Out started as a passionate dream almost 6 years ago, now it has become my future and every day is just fantastic". Her enthusiasm is clear and they must be doing something right because Corks Out have received over 12 awards in the past 3 years for their service, product range and point of difference.

If you cannot wait until August other stores can be found in Stockton Heath, Chester, Timperley and Heswall, or visit www.corksout.com for further information.
