The Alderley Edge Branch of the Royal British Legion is holding an afternoon tea dance to mark the First World War Centenary.

The tea dance will be held on Sunday 26th October 2014 between 2pm and 5pm at Alderley Edge Festival Hall.

Cllr Mary Maczkowiak said "This is a community event and we call upon the villagers to help in remembering the 100th Anniversary of the start of the Great War in 1914. The funds we raise from the Dance will go to the Poppy Appeal and, as we all know, the Royal British Legion do great work for our service and ex-service men and women.

"Other areas have raised thousands in this the 100 years since the First World War, I would really like Alderley Edge to remember the fallen and support this event."

The afternoon will Include tea and cake, a raffle, licensed bar and DJ GI Jive will be playing music from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Period dress is optional.

Mary added "Please come along and support this event. Join in the dancing, meet old friends or just sit and enjoy the afternoon."
