Countdown to the Big Weekend

Promotional Feature

Wilmslow and Alderley's Big Weekend is nearly here!... Abba, Barry White, Wilmslow & Alderley food festival, beer awards and more!

Following Lindow Cricket Club's successful Party on the Pitch last year, the party returns on Saturday 27th of September, with another family friendly concert.

Dancing shoes at the ready! The main act on the Saturday night will be 'Bjorn to Be', a truly brilliant Abba tribute act, who we promise will get you dancing under the moonlight.

Alongside the music performances, Saturday sees the launch of the Wilmslow & Alderley bottle beer awards, as well as a showcase of local street food and a full fun fair to keep the little ones entertained.

Beer lovers have got a real treat in store. The finalists competing for best beer are Mobberley Fine Ales showcasing HedgeHopper & WhirlyBird, Tatton Brewery showcasing Tatton Gold & Lazy Haze, Wincle Brewery showcasing Mr Mullins & Blind Monk and Robinson's Brewery showcasing Dizzy Blond & Old Tom. Voting will take place throughout the weekend. Who wins, you decide.

The gates open at 5pm, so bring a picnic blanket, the family and your dancing shoes.

Saturday 27th of September, tickets Adult £10.00, Children £5.00. Available from Lindow Cricket Club or www.wilmslowlive.com.

But alas the fun doesn't stop there. On Sunday the 28th of September we are delighted to launch the very first Wilmslow and Alderley Edge Food and Drink Festival. This free event will celebrate the very finest local food, beer and street food.

We are delighted to announce that we will have cookery demonstrations which include a demonstration by celebrity chef David Mooney. David is co-owner and Chef Patron at The New Moon Pub Company and has a glittering CV including an apprenticeship with Raymond Blanc and a stint as Commis Chef to Marco Pierre White!

Previously Chef Patron of the Belle Epoque in Knutsford, David is recognisable as a media star, with many appearances on television and on radio under his belt. Notably, he was the resident chef on the region's Granada Tonight programme and made over 200 appearances, as well as hosting the 'Food Hunter', in which he travelled throughout the North West cooking up a culinary storm in various locations using locally sourced produce.

Other talks on the day include Gregg Sawyer of Tatton Brewery, John Robinson of Robinson Brewery, Claire Kelsey of Gingers Comfort Emporium, Sue Van Gaalen of The Magnificent Cake Co and Karim Ghazanfar discussing fine wines.

And for the adventurous food festival goer we have Man vs Food, please make sure you arrive hungry!

Music lovers are also in for a treat. The very talented and beautiful Sadie Pickering of Alderley's 'The Yard' will be hosting the Open Mic stage.

Our little festival visitors will enjoy the funfair. There really is something for everyone!

With over 50 local food and drink producers this event should not be missed.
