A ceremony was held at Alderley Edge Library on Thursday, 11th September, to award those youngsters who finished this year's Summer Reading Challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge is designed to encourage 4 to 11 year olds to keep up their reading skills over the summer holiday. It was completed by 36 local children who read six or more books of their choice from the library during the holidays.

The children were awarded with a medal and certificate by Councillor Frank Keegan who congratulated them on their success.

Cllr Keegan said "Can I congratulate all the young readers who have done tremendously well during the summer to complete the scheme.

"Thank you very much for taking part and I hope you enjoy your reading in the future."

There is a different theme each year and the theme for the 2014 Summer Reading Challenge was Mythical Maze.
