Works commence at Panacea

Work finally commenced on the refurbishment of Panacea this week over seven months after the restaurant was destroyed by fire. Following a reported £3.2 million spend Panacea was open for only five days when fire engulfed the building in the early hours of September 17th last year.

Initially the owners thought the fire had been started accidentally but within a week police were treating the incident as suspicious and revealed that the cause of the blaze was believed to be arson. Designer Bernard Carroll is once again in charge of the project and has been working on some alterations to the design. The layout of the restaurant will remain the same but in terms of decor there will be some changes. Speaking with Claire Byrne, from Panacea, she confirmed that if the works go according to plan the intention is to have the building work complete by mid-September so they are in a position to reopen at the end of September.
