Police issue warning following locker and changing room thefts

Cheshire Police are asking people to be mindful of the security of their property following a spate of thefts from lockers and changing rooms at leisure facilities across the county.

Thieves have targeted premises such as gyms, leisure centres, golf clubs and hotels, stealing items including phones, purses, wallets and jewelry.

A police spokesperson said "The circumstances of the thefts have varied with some property stolen after being left insecure and in some cases, lockers being broken into.

"The premises concerned are taking these incidents very seriously and police ask that anyone who uses leisure facilities remains vigilant around lockers and changing rooms.

"People should also consider taking only their essential valuables if they are being left unattended."

Any suspicious activity should be reported to staff or passed on to police directly via the non-emergency number 101.
