Village Fete another big success

Now in its sixth year, the Alderley Edge Village Fete was another huge success on Sunday, 29th June, with a great turnout.

Approximately 1100 people gathered at the Cricket Club for a day of traditional family fun.

Visitors enjoyed the ever popular dog show, falconry display, chainsaw sculpture, fairground rides, vintage cars, stalls and performances from local musicians in the marquee. As well as new attractions for this year, which included crazy golf and zorbing.

Refreshments included teas and a delicious selection of homemade cakes provided by Francis House and Fulshaw WI, as well as a BBQ, Pimms tent, ice-cream and bar.

Organised by Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree, and John Berry, manager of the Cricket Club, the Alderley Edge Village Fete has become a much loved community event.

Emma Bolton said "As part of the event we were raising funds for Francis House Children's Hospice, which as we all know is an amazing charity providing respite for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We are still in the process of collecting together all of the money raised on the day but we are sure that it will beat last years total.

"The ladies from the hospice committee worked so hard decorating the marquee with fresh flowers for their vintage tea and cakes stall. We would also like to thank all of the members of the Fulshaw WI who very kindly donated some gorgeous cakes for the stall. Also many thanks to all of the musicians who entertained us throughout the afternoon."

John Berry, General Manager at Alderley Edge Cricket Club commented "It's a day all those connected with the running of the club look forward to as its always a pleasure to see our wonderful setting full of young and old alike enjoying the grounds at this ever popular event."
