Science Week goes with a bang

Explosions were flying at the launch of Science Week for Alderley Edge Community Primary pupils, who have enjoyed a fun-filled practical week stuffed full of science.

With the theme of the week being 'Keen to be Green', pupils thoughtfully considered their environment and conducted experiments to reduce environmental waste. Other highlights included a chemistry workshop for Year 6 (using cabbages), environmental orienteering for KS1 and bug hotels (kindly constructed by Mr Ed Pilkington) to encourage more insects to live in our local environment.

At the end of the week the children put on green clothing to represent their environmental efforts.

Comments from enthusiastic participants included Aleena Hussain in Year 3 who said "I liked the experiments best because they were very interesting and we got to change the colour of a daisy!"

One of our youngest scientists in the reception class, Sam Finch remarked "I loved the explosions because they went splat on the ceiling!"

Mrs Sarah Bull, Year 1 teacher and Science leader, who organised the week's activities said "Overall the week was a great success and one which we hope will have inspired any budding little Scientists at Alderley Edge Community Primary School."
