Meeting for those wishing to be involved in Local Plan examination

Prior to the examination of the Cheshire East Local Plan a Pre-Hearing Meeting (PHM) will take place next month which anyone who wishes to be involved in the examination should attend.

The PHM will take place on Thursday 24th July 2014 at 2pm in the Assembly Room at Macclesfield Town Hall.

Cheshire East Council submitted the Plan to the Secretary of State on 20th May 2014 and Stephen J Pratt has been appointed by the Planning Inspectorate to examine the Plan and consider the evidence submitted and the representations made. Kerry Trueman has been appointed by the Council as an independent Programme Officer and will be dealing with all matters concerning the examination.

Kerry Trueman explained "The purpose of the PHM is to explain and discuss procedural and administrative matters for the management of the examination, including the matters and issues to be discussed, the hearings programme and participants, the methods of dealing with representations, the timetable for submitting further statements, and any other relevant matters."

She added "It is important that everyone who wishes to be involved in the hearing sessions of the Examination attends the PHM and takes account of the Guidance Note published on the website here."

Only those who made representations on the submission version of the Plan during the prescribed period are involved in the examination process, and only those who seek some changes to the Plan are normally involved in the hearing sessions.

The Council received 3,458 representations from 657 respondents on the submission version of the Plan between 14 March–25 April 2014.

The purpose of the examination is to examine the soundness and legal compliance of the Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy. The "Examination" starts when the Plan is submitted to the Secretary of State and ends when the Inspector's report is sent to the Council. The Inspector has already begun his initial examination of the Plan and has asked some initial questions of the Council and these together with their responses can be found on the website here

The deadline for submission of further statements is 24 July and the hearing sessions are likely to commence on Tuesday 16 September 2014.
