Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare by George Shearing is the featured work at the Barnby Singing Day using the text of various Shakespearean songs and sonnets set to music in Shearing's inimitable, slightly jazzy style.
All are arranged for four-part mixed chorus, some a cappella, others accompanied by piano and double-bass.
As always, the Barnby Singing Day aims to give singers the chance to try a work which is not in the standard repertoire and have fun
Led by Keith Orrell who will be accompanist by Robert Woods and, for the first time, by bass player Sophie Sully.Keith is the director of the Willaim Byrd Singer of manchester.
Ticket price of £20 includes music hire, tea and coffee, and a soup lunch is available for £4.
