Service to commemorate and remember the Centenary of Passchendaele,

Wilmslow & Royal British Legion are very pleased that Cheshire East Reflects has chosen this town to hold this very important & memorable event to commemorate the Third Battle of Ypres.

The Mayor of Cheshire East Council Councillor Arthur Moran, Tatton MP Esther McVey, the Bishop of Stockport Revd Libby Lane, Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs MBE and the Chairman of Wilmslow Town Council Chairman Martin Watkins will be amongst those attending the special service at the War Memorial on Mill Street at 2pm.

The Mayor of Cheshire East Council will welcome everyone to the service. The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire will then speak about the impact of Passchendaele on Cheshire, Tatton MP Esther McVey will reflect on the impact of Passchendaele on Wilmslow and Anna Meadmore will sing something of that time.

After which there will be a short service of remembrance led by Revd Libby Lane, the Bishop of Stockport.

All those in attendance will be invited to lay a flower to remember those named on the memorial.

Tea and cake served will be served at Wilmslow British Legion after the service.
