3   Average Food. Friday Evening, 29th July 2011.

Went to the B&G for dinner on Friday evening with my partner. The place was really buzzing and there was a really great atmosphere!

Although I had booked earlier in the week and asked if we could have a table in one of the booths downstairs, we were given a duplicate of choice: a table upstairs or a table at the back downstairs. Okay, we would have preferred a better table, but no big deal.

The real disappointment was when the food came. We chose the Asian Plate to share at £15.95 which was really badly presented, it looked like it had just been thrown onto the plate. Although I haven't eaten any food from Iceland, I assume this was a similar standard: the duck rolls and chilli squid were both tough, the chicken fairly tasteless and the Vietnamese vegetable and mint salad virtually non-existent. The Prawns were okay but a bit too much batter.

For main course I chose Tandoori baked Sea bass at £17.95, and my partner chose Salmon Fish Cakes at £14.95. We also ordered a portion of mash and pak choi with chilli and garlic. My Sea Bass was okay, that's all I can really say about it. My partner's fish cakes were totally tasteless and the side portions were also average and quite small.

On a positive note the New Zealand 2010, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Moko Black, was very nice at £31.95 (so it should be at that price). Also, the service was very polite and attentive, if not a bit rushed between courses.

We have been going to the B&G in Alderley for probably ten years', although we haven't been recently until last Friday. We did have an enjoyable evening, although I cannot say that the food contributed much to our enjoyment, and when you consider that the final bill was over £130 (we did have two bottles of wine) without desserts or coffees, it was rather expensive, given the lack of quality. However, we will give them another try.

5   Top Place

In the time I have been coming to Alderley Edge, I have never felt so welcome as I have at The Alderley Bar And Grill. Whether it be for a morning coffee or a night out.

It's my perfect place.

5   The Original and still the best.

I've been coming to the bar and grill for 10 years and it's not always been this good but I can say with confidence that as a regular it is the best bar in town. It's not the cheapest, nor does it have the best wine list or food, but both are pretty good and it's more than made up for by the excellent staff who range from the merely efficient, at worst, to the hillarious and downright ornamental. I'd reccommend booking(although I never do; far too disorganised. lol). Friday Nights are heaving but for a really good night take a bunch of people and go early mid week. The regulars are an ecclectic and entertaining bunch and you will be more than looked after.

5   Great Place

Always been pleased with the service, food, and atmosphere in here. The staff are very attentive and always try to please. Maybe one slight improvement to consider would be to update the cocktail list choice, perhaps along the lines of cloud bar in Manchester who probably have some of the greatest cocktails around.

5   Consistently Fabulous Food!

Over several years of frequenting the Bar & Grill I have very rarely had a single complaint. The food is always high quality, the staff are attentive and friendly and I always have lots of fun there! Last weeks Fillet Steak followed by Brownies to share had to be my nicest meal there yet. Well done to everyone there!
