2   Christmas Lunch Menu

I have just come back from lunch at Gusto - taken two colleagues as a 'thank you' and was really disappointed and embarrasseed with the quality of the food. We all selected from the Set Christmas menu at £23.95 for three courses. The restaurant was really full but service acceptable. The food was the worst I have ever experienced at Gusto. Crayfish starter was tasteless and accompanied by waterey salad, cold vegetables and strangely flavoured green beans with the turkey - all looked and tasted 'very reheated' and mediocre desserts. Won't be revisiting again over the festive period.

5   Takeaway - great value

We've ordered Gusto At Home several times recently, because I repeatedly fail miserably to provide food for my family, and I am sure we will continue to do so.

Not only is the food of good quality but the prices are great.

Just ordered garlic bread, potato wedges, pizza and prawn tagliatelle and we got change from £12.

Would certainly recommend ordering on Mondays or Tuesdays, as we do, because you get 40% off on orders collected.

5   WIll go back again and again

I was at Gusto again last week it is the perfect place to dine in Alderley Edge! Great place to go for a meal or just a drink, both the resturant and bar have a great vibe. The food is devine, and the service is excellent. All the staff were friendly and welcoming! Definitely my fave place to eat out and socialise! I recommend you try the pan fried duck or pork cutlett and a Jammie dodger shot!!

5   Gusto Revisited

I just felt it only right to even up the score following my last vist to Gusto. I found on previous visits that Gusto had rather lost its way...

Anyway, I was invited there and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The service was prompt, polite and professional. Exactly what I felt was lacking before. We had three courses and throughout the meal the food was excellent and the ongoing service to our table between courses was attentive and perfectly timed.

It was a very enjoyable evening and I only felt it fair to say so! Gusto it seems is back. Well done.

4   Much improved since my last visit

We went to Gusto for my teenage daughters birthday with a few of her friends. For the first time ever we were seated upstairs as there was a charity event on downstairs. The place was packed.

Apart from putting 5 of us on a table meant for 4 which we didn't worry about as we put the 3 teenagers in a row and there was room for them. (It would have mattered if it had been 5 larger adults though). Gusto did not dissapoint though.

They were attentive, quick, efficient and friendly and the food was good too. I have to say my last few experiences of Gusto have been very poor due to having to wait too long for a booked table, poor service and dissapointing food and I was a little wary of returning but my daughter loves it and it's so convenient in the village we decided to try it again.

This time they did not dissapoint at all and it was like returning to the restaurant we used to love so much. If they could consistently provide the level of service we have just experienced we would I am sure return to being regulars.

I had tea with my girlfriends there on Thursday night it was so busy, we had a really nice table our waiter was really nice to, i always eat the same thing (salmon pasta) because i just love it!

Whats even better is we got 50% off our bill because we booked online and there is an offer on in january!I think its a really good idea, i will be back my favorite place in the village by far !

1   Always disappoints

I've been to Gusto's on a few occasions and it never ceases to disappoint. I can't understand why it's so popular? The most recent and last time was with a group of friends some months back and we had a table reservation for 8.15pm, which was confirmed by text. When we arrived we were told the table wouldn't be ready until 8.45pm. We went elsewhere for a drink, returned to Gusto's at 8.45pm and waited another half an hour for our table, eventually sitting down at 9.15pm. The staff were indifferent, hostile even. I won't be going back.

2   Less Gusto than before?

Gusto has been on my list of favourite places to visit for years. I regularly go there for drinks and will also dine there. I went in last week for a bite to eat and was really disappointed with the service.

The place was quite busy so we decided to eat in the bar area. I asked for a couple of menus and off we went to the bar for a drink. The waitress said she would bring them over after I indicated which table we were taking. We waited and waited and nothing happened. In a show of protest we finished our drinks and headed for the Bubble Room.

Another general point I'd like to mention is the service at the bar. It seems that in the last 6 months or so the bar staff in Gusto seem very reluctant to serve and seem more interested in spinning their cocktail shakers and chatting between themselves. Has anyone else noticed this? It almost seems like a certain arrogance has crept in which didn't used to be there at all. This might sound harsh but this opinion has been formulated over some months now as it's happened many times. It's a shame that such a nice place is being let down by a poor first impression.

5   Gusto Always Get It Right !

I have been to the alderley edge gusto many times and can't fault a thing, the food is gorgeous, the staff are always helpful.

As I have always had a good experience personally I booked for a family gathering (my dad has just got engaged!) nothing was too much trouble, we had a set menu, which helped my family and I cost the gathering, there were staff awaiting our arrival with welcome drinks, everything was perfect!

Many thanks to all involved, and we shall see you again soon! Its my birthday next!

1   Not so good

I'm a huge fan of this place but something was not right last time I went in, firstly it was not as busy as normal which always tells a story, then as I ordered my usual fritto misto I was told they had run out of sardines, bad start.

Then the garlic bread arrived and it was like something from a cheap kebab house, overpowered with garlic and undercooked, normally one of there best offerings too.

Then my diavolo pizza came, and all I can say is it did not taste right, not nice at all very greasy and luke warm, and I say this after having about a dozen in the past.

I paid and told the manager and he apologized and made excuses but I am now worried about this place as this was the worst meal I had here in 2 years, if I go back and all is well I may remove this review.

5   Well done Gusto

Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Gusto in Alderley Edge. I was pleased to see that they had changed the menu since last dining with them so was excited to taste some new dishes.

I started with the chicken livers in masarla wine which were fantastic accompanied by their outstanding beef carpacio (previously on their menu but still as good). For my main i chose an 8oz sirloin steak in a gorgonzola based sauce...... FANTASTIC.

What as great selection of dishes available and i can't wait to return to work my way through the rest of the new dishes.

Once again the service was outstanding mixed with top quality food I couldn't recomend this restaurant more highly.

Thank you Gusto once again for a fantastic experience. 10 out of 10.

4   Nice food shame about the bill

Visited last Saturday. Really nice food, very good service. However, when the bill was presented they had put the main courses on twice.

Very apologetic, but my suspicious mind was thinking, if you try it on how many times might you get away with it. Especially as the next table to us also had an issue with the bill, but I don't know what that was. Took the edge off a very nice evening.

4   Mondeo

Gusto is the Ford Mondeo of Alderley Edge dining - consistent, comfortable and reasonably priced. They are children friendly and have some very capable staff.

The shere volume style catering means you will never truly get an outstanding meal there but you will eat well the kids will enjoy it and it won't break the bank.

The bar can be quite entertaining early doors on a Friday or Saturday but I feel like a dinosaur in there at 33 more for the 18-22 set I think. It does pretty much what it says on the tin and you will likely enoy it.

2   Change the music

I agree with Brian. Every time I go here there is music which drowns conversation and its not even pleasant to listen to.

Much later on in the evening the music switches to current hit songs, much better and you are able to converse. Not sure why this isn't played quietly during meal times.

They seem to have got it right at the Knutsford branch which I would give 5 stars to.

2   Disappointed

After reading a lot of favourable reviews, we finally decided to try Gusto out for a teenager's birthday.

The service was OK, the food was average and reasonably priced. The noise was unbearable, the chefs were having to shout at each other to be heard and clattering trays everywhere. There was a loud musical beat in the background and far too many people crammed in.

The teenager we were with said "it sounds worse than my school canteen!"

Not recommended for a quiet, intimate meal. Oh, the service was fairly slow as well.

5   New Year's Eve

We spent an excellent evening yesterday at Gusto's New Year's Eve party. The food was excellent, the staff their usual helpful and friendly selves, despite the place being awash with people. Everything was served hot, fresh and promptly (again despite the crowds ). The atmosphere was great (this time the crowds helped!) The band (duo) were good and I even got a dance with my step daughter after midnight. We left soon after one but the party looked like it would go on for some time. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. all in all a super evening.

1   Gusto - what has happened?

What has happened to service at Gusto's? Our two last visits have been absolutely dreadful. Last night we first waited a good 30 minutes after being told the next table was ours, second we had to wait another 20 minutes once being advised a table. Attention throughout was poor. Upon receiving the bill, drinks from the bar was not included - when advising our waiter, no appreciation at all of the fact we actually reminded him!

At our last visit before then, a waitress grabbed my arm as we were leaving, claiming we hadn't paid for our drinks?! Not letting us leave until I pointed out the waiter who passed our payment - and again no apology! Humiliated we left Gustos for what it feels like, the very last time

4   Families or Grown Ups

We frequently take our 2 daughters (5 & 4) as they love making their own pizzas complete with Chefs' hats (children's menu available until 6pm). They're given art packs on arrival so are kept amused colouring and sticking. They sometimes wander over to watch the chefs close-up and are often provided with a bit of dough to bash about!! It's also a great night out without the children - the food is fantastic and a good range too! I must confess it's one of our favourites.

5   The kids love it (and so do we)

We took our 3 and 1 year old for lunch on a Friday. They love Gusto, children are always made to feel welcome and our girls particularly love the tomato garlic bread. We always know they will eat well if we treat them to Gusto and we always have an enjoyable experience. The menu is pretty extensive so there is something for everyone and they have a lunchtime special of a main course including either a small glass of house wine, bottle of beer or soft drink for £8.95. My favourite is chicken breast wrapped with prosciutto though the tuna was also very good. Great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and consistently good food. We'll be back again, and again, and feel lucky to have this place on our doorstep.
