5   Best in Wilmslow

Having eaten Thai food here there and everywhere this is by far amongst the best we've tasted. Certainly the best and most consistent food in the Wilmslow.

5   True Thai Cuisine

I have spent too many and yet not enough times in the Chilli Banana since it started on Hayes Lane, Alderley. The quality of food and the personal service from Steve and May, who produce (mainly May I suspect!) these fresh, flavoursome meals with real passion, is just fantastic. The staff are always welcoming and so help make the meal a great occasion. Sunday lunch is an 'event' but if something less busy is desired, Saturday lunch is very good.

5   A special night out for everyone

I took three generations of my family to the Chilli B, including one coeliac. It was definitely the best meal we have had since her diagnosis. We could all order from an extensive gluten-free menu, with clear labelling of heat and spice for the kids and adults to choose. Good service and very friendly. It was good value for money as not a scrap was left!

5   Very good Thai restaurant

My wife and I love Thai food and have travelled extensively and eaten in all sorts of places throughout Thailand, from the better hotels to the road side cafes and out of the way beach bars. We also frequented many Thai restaurants when we lived in Sydney.

This is a great favourite of ours (and the children) and we go often go to celebrate birthdays. It's not cheap and the surroundings are not the most luxurious, but it is good value. I have always found the food to be authentic and of a high standard and the service good.

We have had one dissapointing experience, but that is in the context of many visits over the years. We also have the occasional takeaway. The Sunday buffet is particularly good.

4   Fabulous Thai Take Away!

We've never actually eaten in here but have had a takeaway (for 4-6 people) about 10 times I should think over the past year or so. The standard is always excellent, the portions are reasonably good and we've certainly no complaints. Great Thai food!

2   Average food, average service, not so average price

My wife and I dined at Chilli Banana last month after recommendations from colleagues at work. We went on a Saturday evening at 19:00.

We were greeted on arrival and the host offered to take our coats. We sat in a cosy booth and were given several menus, one of which had 3 set menus to choose from.

We chose the cheapest set menu and soon after realised that the saving versus ordering all the courses individually was only £1! This sounds like good business for the restaurant as we would not normally order three courses.

The food was average with a mixed platter to start with but some confusion with the staff meant that I was served a more creamy Thai green curry when in fact we had asked to have it spicy. Credit to the restaurant here for promptly correcting this but I am not sure if the creamy nature of the original dish was responsible for some indigestion later on.

The desert was a banana split and was something you could easily have produced from supermarket ingredients. This was disappointing.

There was a delay before the coffee arrived as the staff appeared to forget about it. It was not worth the wait as I could not finish it.

With the wealth of choice on offer in the local area, I don't think we will be rushing back to Chili Banana, though I have heard that the Macclesfield site is better.

4   Very good service but quite pricey

This is a lovely restaurant and gets very busy so book to avoid disappointment! Can be a bit pricey and portions not that large but very good food. Sunday is a particularly good day to eat as they have the eat all you want buffet for a set price which is extremely good value.

I have always had a very good meal here and the service has always been excellent.
