5   A great meal and service

We had the three course lunch menu and found the food and service first class. We were met on arrival and shown to the table. Ordered drinks and looked at the menu which gave a good choice. The food was as good as a Michein Starred resturant we visited recently and much cheaper. The service was very good and not over bearing.

This is a very good restaurnt and we will return,

5   Excellent Lunch!

Just got back from a very pleasant lunch at Bacchus. Opted for the fixed price 3 course menu which was varied and delicious. Had the slow roasted beef rib which was excellent followed by the spotted dick. Service was good but they do make the strongest coffee in the World here so ask for a weaker coffee if you don't want to be up all night! The meal was washed down with a bottle of Chilean chardonnay which was also of excellent quality. The restaurant has a lovely, upmarket ambience. Will be back.

5   Great food and service

Went to Bacchus for an extended lunch. We did not book but found no problems getting a table. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The food was devine. We went for the three course option. I had sardines to start followed by the hot pot and finished with the Bailys parfet. Every course was cooked to perfection and I was tempted to ask for bread to mop up the gravy from the hot pot!! We will be going back to sample the evening menu. Excellent value.

5   Excellent service, excellent food

My husband and I decided to give Bacchus a try the evening before New Years Eve and we were not disappointed. The reception we received was very welcoming with excellent service throughout . The food was excellent and good value for money. We completely concur with the comments from Stephanie and Alison and feel that Bacchus is a wonderful addition to the village.

5   A Welcome Newcomer

Since the sad demise of The White House there has been a gap in the restaurant market in Prestbury, which Bacchus is well placed to fill. Three of us lunched there today and found the decor and ambiance sophisticated, the staff friendly (without being familiar), and the food excellent. Yes, the A La Carte is expensive - but this is not a bistro; the crisp white tablecloths and properly set tables were a delight. Also, the lunch menu is varied and reasonably priced, and does include coffee and petit four. We will be back!

5   Perfection in Prestbury

Having been disapointed with the restaurants prestbury has to offer in the past this is a breath of fresh air , We were a party of 6 on friday evening the restaurant was busy when we arrived and there was a great vibe, The staff were very welcoming and the wine waiter was very knowledgeable ,some of us ordered the set menu which was £29 for 3 course and coffee which was very resonable and looked very nice ,especially the short rib of beef ,My wife and i had the a la carte i had the scallops with bloody mary sauce and samphire which was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked for my main i had the rack of lamb with hotpot potato which again looked and tasted amazing , my wife had the oxtail soup with blue cheese ravioli to start and the seabass with langoustine's for main which she thoroghly enjoyed we shared the dessert platter for 2 which again was delicious , All our party were very happy and have phoned to ask when are we going again ,we look forward to our next visit ,

2   "Champagne Bar" I think not!

As village residents we called into the new restaurant for drinks as the sign above the door says "Champagne Bar" and to check it out. Upon entering, there was no one to greet us so we wandered through to the bar area to find a member of staff. The waitress wasn't sure if we could just have drinks and went away to check. Eventually, we were then shown to some very uncomfortable stools at the bar. We were then informed that they only serve the house champagne by the glass. My husband was given the remains of an open bottle which was flat, they opened a fresh bottle for me but it wasn't chilled. Disappointing!

5   Perfection in Prestbury!

I have just returned from my first trip to Bacchus and felt compelled to give my thoughts!

Having frequented the restaurants in Prestbury often, I found Bacchus to be a refreshing change.

The staff were attentive and friendly and offered excellent suggestions (including the temptation of dessert) and the ambiance was warm.

I had scallops which I would strongly recommend and my father had Hake which was a special for the day but the choice was varied and plentiful so we could have had anything!

We will definitely be back to try more!

3   A first impression.

Exited about a new restaurant in the village, booked a table and went along with great enthusiasm. The food was very nice with a good choice of wines.

Sadly, we were shown to a table for two directly by the front door which was not appropriate on a cold Winter's evening and asked to be re-located but told no other tables were available. (At this time there were only a handful of diners inside). Eventually after discussion we were shown to a table at the far back part of the restaurant where we met another couple who had experienced exactly the same situation.

Unfortunately I felt uncomfortable for the rest of the evening. One can never get back a first impression and I would suggest the table to the left of the door be moved during the Winter time unless one wears a fur coat!

I wish the restaurant the best of luck but will not be returning.

3   Too close to the front door

I had booked Bacchus over 5 days before our Saturday night meal. We were shown to (what I felt) was an isolated table near to the front door. After sitting down and feeling the draught when the front door opened we requested to be moved to an adjoining table. We were told no tables were available close by except for a small table at the very back of the restaurant. Sat right next to us were a couple who had also asked to be moved from the same table!!! The rest of the restuarant at this stage had no more than 6 persons in it. This unfortunately spoilt our whole Bacchus experience.

The food was excellent but pricy, service good with friendly staff. Wine I felt was overpriced. I eat out regularly in the village and probably will prefer our good value for money restaurants in future.
