5   Lovely lunch for my 70th birthday

My wife and I went to the AE Hotel restaurant for the first time today to celebrate my 70th birthday. We had a lovely, relaxing, time - great food and drink and great and friendly service.

The AE Hotel brasserie opens soon and we'll definitely go back for more - highly recommended!

Eating out anywhere should be about great food but equally it should be about relaxing - not about stress - and the AE Hotel restaurant is just that - easy dining.

5   My favourite restaurant in Alderley Edge by miles

We've dined at the Hotel for dinner and also had our daugher's christening there about 18 months ago and found this to be the most wonderful establishment.

The food is excellent, the service outstanding and the experience and magical. The table was ready at the time we booked, the service unhurried and the staff attentive. Wonderful!

5   Excellent Dinner Party for 10 people

We celebrated my wifes birthday at the hotel. Given the size of the Group we wanted a round table but were politely advised that this could not be accommodated in the conservatory restaurant but were immediately offered one of the two Private Dinning Rooms without extra charge. We dined from the 'Market Menu' and had a lovely meal. The service from that first enquiry through to getting taxis at the end was first class and every member of staff we dealt could not have more courteous or helpful. We too will be returning.

5   Best restaurant in Alderley Edge?

We visited the Alderley Restaurant at the Alderley Edge Hotel on Saturday 24th October. We were greeted on arrival and the receptionist offered to take our coats before the head waiter escorted us to the bar.

Unlike most hotels, the bar prices seemed reasonable for such an establishment. We were served appetisers and given the a la carte menu and taster menu (6 courses for £49.50). The a la carte menu includes the market menu at the back which has 3 courses for £29.50 (with 3 choices of starter, main and desert). We chose the market menu.

The food was delightful with high quality ingredients and attention to detail in the presentation, including one course arriving on a piece of slate instead of a dinner plate. Local ingredients are used where available.

The service was exemplary. Our glasses were always full, staff checking we were okay, dishes described to us, napkins folded if we left the table and crumbs cleared away.

The atmosphere was truly relaxing courtesy of a live classical pianist in the bar area. We will definitely be returning here.
